Captain Shubham Gupta was born on 9 October 1995,In the Tajganj area of Agra in Uttar Pradesh, to Basant Kumar Gupta and Pushpa Devi Gupta.
He grew up with his younger brother Rishabh Gupta. From early age, Shubham displayed qualities of courage and discipline, nurturing a deep aspiration to serve in the Indian Armed Forces.
Determined to achieve his goal, Shubham, was commissioned as a lieutenant in the corps of signals,, a crucial arm, of the Indian army responsible for communication during both war and peace. However, his passion for adventure and his unwavering commitment to serve led him to volunteer for the elite ,Para Special forces. After successfully passing the rigorous selection process and undergoing intense probation, he was inducted in the prestigious unit named (9 Para Special Forces) known for its expertise in mountain warfare and counter insurgency operations.
On November 22, 2023, during an anti-terrorism operation in the Kalakote area of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, Captain Shubham Gupta made the ultimate sacrifice while bravely combating terrorists. His exceptional valor and dedication to duty were posthumously honored with the prestigious Sena Medal for gallantry.
